I would like to inquire if you have noticed or studied this combination of oscillators and if so, what suggestions you could make.
Are you referring to Slow Stochastics? Interesting observation...I'm sure this can be checked out if you have access to a platform with back testing capabilities...

Ben Bernanke's speech and your claims.

Hi,
I'm after an explanation if I may.
Ben Bernanke's speech occured at 2pm GMT 18th July.

According to your article titled 'Bernanke Shifts Tone, Sending Dollar to Record Low against the Euro ' you are saying it is his testimonial that drove the EUR/USD to record highs (in your words 'Bernanke Shifts Tone, Sending Dollar to Record Low against the Euro').

However, at the time of the speech the actual record high occured several hours prior. Could you explain this for me please

Cheers

Unhappy I'm such a rookie

OK, what does this exactly mean EUR/USD. The Euro is greater than the US the Dollar or the other way around. I'm so lost at this point.

Newbie Alert!

Hey...

First post :P

I'm a newbie to Forex and the FXCM Trading Station and I have a few questions.
( I have a demo account atm)

Firstly, if the account's balance is in USD, then how is it possible, or what happens when you trade (it does work :S) GBP/USD and Sell GBP (even though you don't have it in your balance), is that not trading $1 for $1?

Secondly, which is order type is recommended? At Best (and to what degree) or Market Range?

Amount(K) is that a measure of units of currency? E.g. - 1 (amount k) = $1000 ?

I was told that with a £300 mini account I could only have Amount size of 50, what does that mean?

And I was also told with this account 1 pip = £1, what does that mean?

Thanks in advance,

Mutasim

FXCM Trading Station Chart Plug-in Problems

This question belongs in the new products section, but since I cannot post threads and replying to the other products makes no sense, I thought I would post here.

First off, let me say that I love just about everything about the built-in charting package with one glaring exception. It is not reliable. Right now, I am looking at the GBP/JPY at 16:37 server time. FXCM sell price is 243.47. Chart price is 243.33 and it is frozen. This happens quite often right around the time I like to set my trades which is the close of the daily candle. I have been burned by this so many times. It goes without saying that it is impossible to be successful in technical trading if your chart package fails to give you accurate and reliable price. And none of the free options are any better because they are Java platforms. My question is something being done about this? Could my computer have anything to do with it? I am using an old PC and have yet to try it on one of my newer machines. By the way, clearing the cache does not help and neither does restarting the trading station. Restarting is not an acceptable solution anyway because it requires you to have to reset all of your indicators and miss out on potential trades.

Finally, since I'm pointing out problems with the chart package I might as well throw in some things for the wish list. How about other hourly time frames besides 60? How about a pivot calculator? How about Fib extensions?

The questions are answered once a week. If you have not gotten a response yet you must wait until tomorrow's podcast is posted on the forum.

I found a bit of a workaround for this problem. Still not acceptable but better than nothing. I can save the layout. This saves all my indicators, etc. Then I can shut down the trading station and reopen fairly quickly. It is still bizarre though. And, after I posted the previous post it started showing data for 7/27 on the daily chart (very weird). Price still didn't match. But why 7/27? 7/26 doesn't close until 2pm ET tomorrow? I reopened trading station and the 7/27 dissappeared. with the correct price. But of course a lot has happened with this pair while I was fiddling with techno issues.

Sorry for 3 posts on the same topic. Please ignore what I said about 7/27. 2pm is the close of the 7/26 so I should be seeing 7/27 after that point. This is how confused you can get when your chart is messed up. You forget what day it is.

Last post on this I promise. Lest you think I made everything up, here are two attachments - not quite at the time I mentioned or with the not showing 7/27 prob, but you'll get the idea. Notice the server time and the change for 7/26 when we were already past 17:00.

I know I promised last post. But, this last attachment shows the same pair at a later time but now the 7/27 date has dissapeared. Now it's 7/26 again. What's going on here?

Cdn/gbp

Greetings,

I have assets involving a CAD/GBP cross. Not too long ago, we were trading at .4780 and now we're plunging to sub-.4630 ... any idea what might become of the pair in the near (2 month) term?

Thanks so much.
